Thank you for your interest in volunteering with the Brown County Library! We are currently accepting volunteer applications at our Ashwaubenon and Southwest Branches. Please periodically check this page for updates about other volunteer opportunities.
Please also visit our Friends of the Brown County Library website if you are interested in other volunteer opportunities that support literacy initiatives in our community: https://www.browncountylibraryfriends.org/.

Who can volunteer?
Students entering grade 6 and older may apply to volunteer at the library. Volunteers should be flexible, dependable, have the ability to follow directions, and work cooperatively as a team with other volunteers and library staff. No experience is necessary; training or an orientation is provided.
Why volunteer at the library?
Teens can gain work-related experience while having fun, helping others, trying new skills and learning about the library and our communities. You can generally choose hours to fit your schedule, and you might be able to volunteer with a friend – or meet new ones! Library volunteer work will usually satisfy service learning requirements for school.
Summer Teen Volunteer Program
BCL needs many volunteers to help run our Summer Reading Programs and to assist with our busy calendar of events and activities from June to August. Information and applications for Central and branch libraries are typically posted by mid-May in the Become a Teen Volunteer section below.
School-year Volunteer Opportunities
The Central Library Children’s Department has openings for volunteers to assist with some of our children’s events and programs, data entry, keeping the department clean and organized, and other tasks throughout the year.
Summer teen volunteer applications for each BCL location are posted below!
FULL Central Library (Downtown Green Bay)
FULL Kress Family Branch (De Pere)
Weyers-Hilliard Branch (Howard)
Teen volunteer applications for school-year opportunities at the Central Library will be posted here when available, usually quarterly.
Teens age 18 and older must also complete and submit this Background Check Authorization. You may fill out the adult Volunteer Application instead of one of our teen volunteer applications. You may return these completed documents in person to a service desk at any BCL location during open hours, or mail them to:
